All-Region Choir

All-Region Choir Audition. 7th and 8th grade students learn their part to four pieces of choral music.  They sing this music at an audition.  Those students who are  chosen to be a part of the All-Region Choir will sing in the All-Region Choir Concert at Stonebriar Community Church on Saturday, November 10th, 2012 and receive a letter jacket patch.

The Auditions are Saturday, October 27th, 2012 during the day beginning at 8am.  Students should expect to stay all day if they would like to know the results. All auditions should be over around 4:30 p.m.

The Auditions will be held at McKamy Middle School in Lewisville.

All 7th and 8th grade choir students who have learned their music and are adequately prepared are eligible.  A student is eligible to participate if he/she passes all classes (70 or above) on the 1st six weeks report card.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn challenging quality music. It is also an opportunity for students to compete as an individual.  This process is exactly like the process the high school students go through in order to be selected in the All-State Choir.  Students should begin practicing these types of auditions just like they practice taking standardized tests.  If a student makes it into the All- Region Choir, the opportunity of singing with other highly talented singers on the night of the concert is extremely rewarding!

In order to participate, students must return the entry form and Region XXIV Rules and Regulations signed by a parent/guardian.  Commitment forms must be turned in no later than Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 and money turned in no later than Monday, October 1st, 2012.

Auditions will be held Saturday, October 27th, 2012.  The auditions will last all day long and should be concluded sometime around 5:00 p.m.  Be sure to bring your music and something to keep you busy after you are done auditioning. Dress in jeans and your Choir shirt.

Each Student will be given an audition number according to their time slot for the day after they arrive.  When their audition number is called they will be escorted to the correct room.  When it is time the student will enter the room and stand behind a screen.  All auditions are blind so the judges will never see who is singing.  They are judged by their assigned audition number.  They will put their music on the stand in the order of the cuts.  The student monitor will press play on the CD player and each student will sing their part beautifully.  After they have finished performing, the judges will say thank you and the student may leave the room and return to the holding area.

If a student has a major conflict with the audition times, I can request an early or late time for that student.  However, I must be told about the conflict no later than Friday, October 19th, 2012

There will be several students who audition. Students will be selected as follows:
  • 7th Grade Treble Chorus
